Many BJJ instructors have never competed in or won any prestigious BJJ tournaments and are therefore unable to pass on this valuable experience and knowledge. Our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program is for everyone – men, women, and children.  You can be small, short, tall, thin, big, young, or old.  Absolutely no experience is necessary.  Our instructors will teach and develop a style that works best for your specific circumstance. Our style reflects a complete grappling game from the standing position to the finish.

For those who want to compete, we offer specialized training to help you prepare for tournaments and matches. Our instructors have years of experience competing at the highest levels and can help you achieve your competitive goals.

Our kids classes are designed to teach children the fundamentals of martial arts in a fun and supportive environment. We focus on building confidence, discipline, and respect while teaching basic techniques and conditioning.

We offer one-on-one private lessons for students who want a more personalized training experience. Our expert instructors will work with you to develop a customized training plan that meets your unique needs and goals.

Komainu-Yemaso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy of Reno is the preeminent location to learn the grappling arts in Northern Nevada. Under the lead of multiple time World/Pan Am Champion Professor Marcos (Yemaso) Torregrosa, Head Professor Jerel Hallert and Professor Byron Cragg bring the most unique grappling training that is offered in the Reno Tahoe area. We are not an affiliate, but an actual Yemaso Academy.

Hallert and Cragg address grappling instruction from various modalities that start on the feet. Both hold USA Wrestling coaching certifications and actively coach youth wrestlers in the area. Once on the ground, you will not find a better blend of both gi and no gi grappling that addresses the body as a whole; from foot locks to chokes. These ground based concepts are addressed and taught from the arenas of sport, self-defense, and a combatives base.

On top of Hallert and Cragg’s grappling resumes, they are both world-renowned combatives instructors and the founders of LEO Tactical Defense Systems which trains first responders and military personnel in the grappling arts.
